Marla Ahlgrimm Marla Ahlgrimm Madison, Wisconsin Years ago, pharmacist Marla Ahlgrimm was deeply concerned that women did not possess the tools necessary for managing the headaches, depression, irritability and other symptoms associated with the menstrual cycle. Inspired to make a difference in her world, Ahlgrimm set out to become a powerful advocate for women. Marla Ahlgrimm endeavored to stand up for women’s health while embracing the struggle of so many women throughout the United States. Shortly after completing her studies at the University of Wisconsin - Madison School of Pharmacy, Marla Ahlgrimm and a colleague founded Madison Pharmacy Associates. In the early stages of her career, Marla Ahlgrimm set out to confirm that hormonal changes had a major impact on women during perimenopause and menopause. Although few medical professionals had focused on hormonal study as part of their research projects, Marla Ahlgrimm was dedicated to making great strides in this field. Since then, she has accomplished more than she ever thought possible. A notable name among pharmacists and medical professionals nationwide, Marla Ahlgrimm has ascended to her status as a result of four decades of hard work and commitment to women’s health issues. Marla Ahlgrimm is also notable for her creation of Women’s Health America headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin. As a combination laboratory and pharmacy, Women’s Health America concentrates on the development of specialized hormone therapies. Marla Ahlgrimm has remained steadfast in her efforts to improve women’s lives in a number of ways. She continued to win support among members of the medical community by co-authoring two books, both published in 1999: The HRT Solution and Self-Help for Premenstrual Syndrome. Always happy to collaborate with fellow pharmacists and discuss important issues relevant to their field, Marla Ahlgrimm has expanded her position through a number of speaking engagements over the years. She is a regular contributor to medical journals and magazines where she clarifies issues related to hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and other treatments available in women’s health. Marla Ahlgrimm is a proud resident of the state of Wisconsin and continues her community involvement through her service as a board member with several organizations, including the United Way. She has also been awarded a number of honors from organizations such as the Wisconsin Women’s Expo, the YMCA, the Fund for Women and the University of Wisconsin - Madison.
