Markey Funk Markey Funk Jerusalem Jerusalem-based musician/producer/DJ/turntablist/crate-digger and music archivist, Markey Funk is a staple of the Israeli groove scene. Starting off as a Hip-Hop and Funk DJ, Markey's musical palette has grown constantly wider and deeper throughout the years, embracing everything between Folk, Psychedelia, Early Electronic and Library music from around the world. While being famous for his explosive Soul-Funk-Psych-Groove DJ-sets, he’s also known as a freak of the 1960′s style, cinema and counter-culture. Besides collecting records and playing them for happy audiences, Markey has been writing and producing his own music for more than a decade: from hip hop beats, through fully sample-based debut album, to remixes for a wide variety of local artists. Recent years also saw his first globally distributed releases on vinyl: sitar-beat 7inch single under the moniker Les Hippies and the concept space-age groove full-length album "The Mystery of Mordy Laye", based on unfinished recordings by an anonymous local band from the late 1970's.
