Marios music career began in 1988 while working as a dancer and puppeteer at the Palladium nightclub when his job description broadened to dj, filling in for the resident when he was away. He took over the residency soon after, the 1st of 8 in Perth, besides gigs in over 40 clubs and club nights working 4 to 6 days a week for 8 straight years in Perth before traveling for the next 8 years where he would guest another 24 rooms.
On the note of parties you get the image Mario has carted his records around in a swag rather than a box given the gravity and historic nature of the names that feature on his road less traveled.
Palladium, Hannibals, Arcadia, Freezer, Infirmary, Club 17, Bronsons, F. Scotts, Cagneys, James Street, Network, Connections, Aqua, Berlin, Hippodrome, Monsoons, The Firm, Elevation, Lizard Lounge, Globe, Alligators, Dual Control (DCs), Racquet Club, Club Bayview, The Claremont Hotel, The Lone Star, Aberdeen, Exit, Jerico, Club Atlantis, Bronsons, The Edge, Pockets, Jackal, Elevation, Delerium...besides the real raves that started it all....Ohm NRG, Elevation, Rush, The Source, Reunion, Big Bad Head, Spice, Eclipse and Monday Madness, supporting many of the best such as Carl Cox, Sasha and John Digweed along the way.
A lover of photography since childhood Mario also became professional while in Italy working there for 4 years in the alps and the riviera, and has since attained a diverse portfolio of commercial and personal, international and local work. From high-end fashion and journalism covering some of the biggest events in the world, to the constant and personal love of inspired photography which is what he opts for predominantly these days where he regularly captures very unique and evocative seconds in time. (See personal Facebook page and Muzpix.)
After that stint away, some down time and a start on music production himself, Marios insurmountable passion for purveying music flared up hotter than ever and his solid sets of funky, deep, electro, tech, nu-jack, progressive house and breaks sets have fired up The Villa, Bar Open, Geisha, Tiger Lils, Luxe Bar, Niche, The Carine, K1 Bar, Duchess Bar, The Sail and Anchor Hotel, The Broken Hill Hotel, Double Lucky, Spank Parties, Gold Bar, The Avairy, Ambar, Summadayze festival, Ministry Of Sound tours, the famous Famous Club in Phuket and the Penthouse in Bali beides an invite from Sky Garden. He also works summer weekends providing sounds on Perth waters for Wet Spot Charters and Nautica Summer Boat parties.
Mario has a regular show on online radio station http://www.thebackyardproject.com.au/ every Thursday 3 til 5pm and Saturdays 12 til 2pm and every 2nd Wednesday 2pm til 3pm. He has had shows on RTR - 92.1 FM where he still guests, besides guesting on Triple J, Base FM and 101Fm Freo.
Mass experience brings a vibrancy and added depth of soul to Mario’s sets that can only be attained with time, though time doesn't necessarily make a good dj. Beside experience and a unique style and personality in delivery, his great versatility, tune choice, and natural ability to genuinely connect with any crowd, anywhere, anytime combine to evoke satisfied smiles from the toughest of crowds.
