Written after attending 'Warm and Toasty Memory Afternoons' at The Clacton Widows Friendly Group. Via Coast to Coast, Warm And Toasty Club project which is funded by Arts Council England , the Big Lottery Fund, Heritage Lottery Fund, Essex County Council and Grassroots Charity. The afternoons were engaging & entertaining. We chatted, we laughed, we drank tea & ate biscuits & had a great time revelling in the stories from everyone's past(including our own). This was positive, face to face engagement that was not only enjoyable but also captured people centred positive stories of days gone by for future generations to listen to. LV, Mandolin, Guitar: Marina Florance Violin and Bass: Mark Jolley BVs: Jules Allen Lyrics: Together through the long dark nights Underground, where the air was cool & you could find Comfort in your Mother’s eyes Outside, like a scene from a movie it was Lights across the sky The noise…. like distant thunder as we sheltered from the rage above Chorus Sometimes we drifted, on a flight of fancy to the Hollywood Hills the sirens were beautiful women captured in black & white stills & the hero always came home Time moved on, we grew up fast From the playground to the factory floor In – a - man’s world we had to find our voice If our heart’s-craved for something more On the borders & the margins we would stand For young girls, the choices were few Married young with a baby on the way We did what we had to do Chorus 8th: Girl to woman, mother & wife, these were the seasons of our lives Chorus… These were the seasons of our lives Credits: Sirens - Florance/Fox-Allen (4:42) Marina Florance - LV, Guitar, Mandolin, Keys, BVs Mark Jolley - Violin, Bass Jules Allen - BVs Based on the memories of The Clacton Widows Friendly Group Genre Folk & Singer-Songwriter Comment by Marina Florance @hardingfele-1: thank you :) 2017-05-01T14:13:15Z
