Marina Sobyanina

Marina Sobyanina (*1986) is a Russian composer and performer living in Bern, Switzerland. She has gone on to pursue a wide range of projects across contemporary classical music, experimental jazz, theatre and film. She has attained a Master’s degree with distinction in Composition & Theory (2014-2017) and a Bachelor's degree in Vocals (2011-2014) at Hochschule der Künste Bern (with Dieter Amman, Christian Henking, Xavier Dayer); a Master’s degree in Art History at Russian State University for the Humanities (Moscow, 2005-2010) and has studied piano at Moscow Regional College of Music (2002-2005). Her latest output features both electronic and acoustic scores. Among recent projects are: commissions for Ensemble "Proton" (work-in-progress, CH, 2019), choir of St.Peter and Paul Church (work-in-progress, Bern, CH, 2018), Ensemble "Polygon" (CH), chamber orchestra “The Soloists of N.Novgorod”; ecological fugue "Liebster Lobster" for live instruments and electronics; music for State Drama Theatre (RU), State Theatre of Nations and Praktika Theatre (Moscow, RU); artistic direction of an international music residency and festival "OneBeat Russia 2017" (USA/RU); fellowships at OneBeat and OMI music residencies in the U.S., etc.
