Canadian pop group Marianas Trench is currently hard at work in Josh Ramsay’s studio in Richmond, BC, fine-tuning the songs that will make up the band’s fourth studio album set for release in October 2014. The 1st single, Pop 101, will be released to radio and iTunes in the early part of the summer 2014. Marianas Trench will be performing at numerous Canadian festivals this summer, including a headlining performance on Parliament Hill for Canada Day (Ottawa), Stampede (Calgary), SceneFEST (St. Catharines), Big Red Music Fest (Charlottetown), and K Days (Edmonton).
Marianas Trench’s previous release, Ever After in 2011, was a 54-minute continuous track with 12 distinct parts. It is home to platinum selling singles “Haven’t Had Enough”, “Fallout”, “Desperate Measures” and “Stutter,” as well as the gold selling single “By Now.” Ever After was more than just a musical album; it was a conceptual theme linking all aspects of the project such as the musical narratives with written stories, with videos, and with each live performance. The band won multiple awards including a 2013 Juno Award for Group of the Year, as well as two 2013 MuchMusic Awards for Pop Video of the Year (Desperate Measures) and Ur Fave Video of the Year (Stutter), a 2013 CRMA for Fan Choice, and two 2013 Indie Awards for Pop Artist of the Year and Video of the Year (Fallout). Ever After’s story could only be brought to life on an arena stage, and in 2012 and 2013, Marianas Trench completed two explosive national headlining arena tours. By 2013, the USA could no longer ignore Marianas Trench’s success and a record deal was struck with Cherrytree/Interscope. With new support from the USA, Marianas Trench also completed their first US Headlining tour in May and June of 2013. With Ever After, the World took notice; travels and shows in Australia and Asia occurred for the first time, as well as beginning interests from Europe and South America.
After a year and a half of touring, award shows and special performances in support of Ever After, Marianas Trench are now lathering on the finishing touches to their new masterpiece. The band employs endless layers of style and emotion into every song, piecing together subtle intricacies to form one cohesive piece. If Ever After was any indication of the potential of these pop-rockers, there is no doubt that the band’s new single and album will be something new, intriguing, and simply amazing.
