Marcelyn Marcelyn Lebovitz Philadelphia, PA Marcelyn started taking voice lessons at age 9, but according to her mother she practically popped out of the womb singing. Now, after many many years of training, she is a graduate of the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts and a soon-to-be graduate of Penn State. Marcelyn's rich history of classical vocal training shows in her original compositions, making her music refined yet raw. Her smooth vocals and intricate lyricism make tough-to-swallow topics, like mental illness, abuse, and body image issues go down like a refreshing glass of water. Her sound is reminiscent of artists like Joanna Newsom, Sylvan Esso, Lianne La Havas, and Regina Spektor. In more recent years, Marcelyn has performed with her former band Hobbledehoy, who had the extreme pleasure of opening for Mitski in State College, PA. She also continues her vocal training and is writing new music every day. She is working on releasing an album in early 2018.
