Lüscher/Kristinsson Zürich Marcel Lüscher - clarinet, bassclarinet, saxophones, ocarina Kristinn Smári Kristinsson - guitar (Ice- and Switzerland) Music with a view. Ears with eyes. Breathe. The sparse instrumentation is misleading: the Swiss saxophonist and clarinetist Marcel Lüscher together with guitarist Kristinn Smári Kristinsson from Iceland have created a floating ecstatic cosmos. Both pay hommage to beauty – not in an esoteric, kitshy or emotional manner, but in a thought-provoking way, courageous in it’s simplicity. Their subtle introspective music lets us pause and listen carefully, it sharpens our sensitivity towards quietness and the unspectacular and praises a quality of life we are about to lose. You cannot avoid hearing the desire and buzzing in the musician’s hearts, no matter how quietly they play their instruments. The two musicians harmonize perfectly and play their own style of music somewhere between Björk on valium and Gimmy Giuffre’s slow motion. Music with a view – ears with eyes. Breathe. Anyone who doesn’t get warmed up here will freeze for a long time!
