Maia Darme Maia Darme Maia Darme is a French classically trained harpist and composer currently based in Paris. She started playing the harp at the age of six and went on to learn under the guidance of some of the world’s most acclaimed harpists (Elisabeth Fontan-Binoche, Alice Giles, Marie-Pierre Langlamet, Xavier de Maistre, Isabelle Moretti, Audrey Perrin, Marie-Emmanuelle Allant-Dupuy, Isabelle Coulon…). Having graduated from the Bordeaux and Paris conservatories, she moved to Australia to study harp performance and composition at the Australian National University. Maia’s studies also took her to Columbia University, New York, where she attended courses in composition as well as diving into electronic music at the Computer Music Center. An avid traveller, she served as Principal Harpist in the Dominican Republic National Orchestra. Maia regularly experiments with jazz and improvisation, and her love of chamber music led her to join many ensembles. She is keen on performing in drama productions and with dance companies. Expanding the repertoire available for her instrument, Maia has had the pleasure of premiering many pieces and enjoys working with composers. She also holds a Masters in International Affairs from Sciences Po Paris.
