Why do I write music? Hard question to answer. All I know is that when I turn on one of my favorite rap songs, I just sit there and vibe and feel nothing else. If someone screamed at me while I was listening to music, I don't think I'd hear them. When I play a soft Rnb song, I can just feeeeel the emotion seeping through my earbuds.
To me, music is relating. Or connecting. It can be a literal relation, like if you hear that break up song and you can relate to a time when something similar happened to you, and it makes you feel... not lonely. Like that this is happening to somebody else. You can also relate in other ways, which is to me more like connecting. If you're listening to your favorite hard rap song, and you hear them talking about millions, etc. Stuff that you don't have. You can still feel it. You understand their happiness so you feel it in your ears and you vibe and it makes you feel good. If they're talking emotionally about... losing a family member. Sure, you might've not lost one. But that doesn't mean you can't feel it. Sometimes I think people get mixed up between relating and feeling.
It's easy for me to write not just music, but anything. It's easy for me because I'm very in touch with my feelings and I like to digest my emotions and share them so that other people can relate or feel. And relating and feeling makes people feel better.. and I want to make people happy. We need more people in this world that just want to make others happy and main goals are to be kind to everyone. It's easiest to describe my feelings, but I also like pondering world problems, and sharing my opinions, another way to relate to others. My song Stereotypes basically says that my opinion is that people should never judge others based on where they come from, the color of their skin, what size clothes they wear, how much money they have, etc. You should judge people based on what they've done and what they're doing and if they are a good person, cause in the end, that's all that matters.
I rap because I like to write, and my favorite thing to write is definitely music. And my favorite music is hip hop/rap. So yeah, that's why I rap. i'm not trying to be something I'm not. I personally hate the things people associate with the word rapper. They associate violence, drugs, swears, etc. I like being called a writer rather than a rapper because people think writers are creative minds that are able to see the world in a different way than others can. Writers stand back and watch everybody and record what is happening. Well, news flash, writers and rapper are the same thing! I don't mind being called a rapper, but if I went up to somebody and said "I'm a rapper." They might laugh, not believe me, or give me a dirty look and think I'm a criminal. if I went up to somebody and said "I'm a writer." They'd be impressed.
Anyways, that's my writing for the day. I released my first mix tape, SCHOOL: You Gotta Know Me, in May... stay tuned for the next mixtape in the "SCHOOL" series. I have a couple new singles out, definitely listen to Gangstas With Standards, that's a fan favorite. Keep it locked on my website for music videos... I really want to shoot one. My biggest performance was in front of 1,000 people (my whole middle school.) I wrote and performed You Gotta Know ft. Xiao Chen (another student at my school.) The song is supposed to be about how great our school is and reps our town. Anyways, THANK YOU FOR LISTENING <3, PEACE OUT CUB SCOUTS. :D
