David Rodigan BBC1xtra South London-born singer/songwriter Maddy Carty is an ex-BRIT School student, who went on to study composition and performance at Leeds College of Music. After graduating, she headed back to London to form her own band and record her debut album 'Come and Get It.' Drawing her inspiration from artists such as Tracy Chapman, India.Arie and Van Morrison, Maddy writes all her own material. She has recently performed at top London venues including Ronnie Scott’s Bar, The Troubadour, Hootananny, The Half Moon, and has also appeared at Rootikal - David Rodigan’s club night in Shoreditch. She has supported Norman Jay and Madness at House of Fun Festival and also played the Brooklyn Bowl with Maxi Priest. Maddy's first single from her new project 'Same Way' is out 12.4.16.
