Hit the world – in conversation with four songwriters by m4music Festival published on 2019-03-28T18:58:49Z Can you live from songwriting? Four female songwriters who have already enjoyed major national and international success explain how to do so. The portfolio of Shelly Peiken from Los Angeles speaks for itself: she writes for Miley Cyrus, Céline Dion, Selena Gomez, Meredith Brooks and Christina Aguilera. Canadian composer and singer Laurell Barker has already been involved in the release of hundreds of songs around the world. One such track was Lil'Touch by the girl group Girls Generation, a K-pop hit streamed millions of times last year. In 2018, she co-composed the song Stones by ZiBBZ, which Switzerland selected as its entry for the Eurovision Song Contest. Valeska Steiner from Zurich achieved her breakthrough with the Hamburg band BOY and the song Little Numbers. Furthermore, the duo won the GEMA Songwriter Award in the Pop/Rock category in 2016. KT Gorique is currently writing Swiss hip hop history. In 2012 at the age of 21, she was the first woman to win the Freestyle Rap World Championship in New York. A writer of both lyrics and beats, she has been touring Europe and the rest of the world successfully for years.
