Lorenzo Romano (Firenze, 1985) is an Italian composer based in Graz, Austria.
He studied composition at conservatory Luigi Cherubini of Florence with Mauro Cardi. During 2010-2011 he studied at Universität der Musik und darstellende Kunst Graz with Beat Furrer as an Erasmus student. In 2012 he came back to follow a postgraduate course in instrumental composition and a Master in Computer Music with Marko Ciciliani.
He attended master classes with: H. Lachenmann, S. Gervasoni, S. Sciarrino, P. Hurel, R. Saunders, G. F. Haas.
He received honourable mentions from the international competition of composition Franco Evangelisti 2012, promoted by Associazione Nuova Consonanza as well from Valentino Bucchi 2012. He has been selected for the Oper project Graz, and he won a bursary by Edison Studio.
His music has been performed in Usa, France (Royaumont), Germany (Bauhaus Dessau), Austria (Opr Graz) and Italy (Biennale di Venezia) and by performers such as Neue Vocalsolisten, Ensemble Recherche, Donatienne Michel-Dansac, Pierre-Stéphane Meugé, Marco Fusi, Luca Sanzò, Freon Ensemble. His music has been broadcast in national Italian radio Radio3.
So far he composed chamber music, a chamber opera, music for ballet, and orchestral music. He worked as well with live electronics and electronic music for video art.
He is the founder member of Schallfeld Ensemble, new music group based in Graz, Austria.
He’s active as organizer of concerts (Freon Festival, Rome; MiXXer, Ferrara; Disaccordi, Firenze) and as event manager for performances of contemporary art connected with music (Museo Pecci, Prato).
In 2008 he graduated in contemporary history at Università degli studi di Firenze.
