London / Ibiza
With 18 years in the live sound industry, numerous DJ residencies and performing to Prince Albert of Monaco. Daniel Lopez certainly has experience that is now shared between being a music producer, sound designer and DJ. Currently working on short picture films, sound to media projects and recording artists for his own solo album, he is fast becoming a go too man for his insight, expertise and technical skill set. Having worked alongside some of the biggest names in the underground dance scene across the U.K, North America and the party capital of Europe, Ibiza. Daniel has taken himself into education and about to complete a BA (Hons) as a Music Technology Specialist at the London College of Music. While being known as Daniel Lopez the DJ he has since carved a reputation as a multi skilled artist with an unparalleled love for all things frequency, vibration and music.
Born in the center of London and growing up in the multicultural area, Shepherds Bush. Early musical influences came from hours in front of the radio, his mothers vinyl collection and street parades where caribbean based floats with steel drums and percussion became the constant backdrop to a sunday afternoon. Soul, Motown, Funk, Disco, Rock and Pop were all apart of his upbringing and his love for energetic electronic music came around 1992 in the form of Acid House and Rave from the likes of Prodigy and Altern 8.
Finding himself still glued to the radio, Pete Tong’s Essential Selection and Mix show fuelled his then new found love of House and underground dance music. This coupled with the concept of a DJ performing this music live created a fascination with the associated technologies and massive desire to have a go. Living with family in the more rural plains of Norfolk he went from performing at pubs, clubs and outdoor parties to finding himself in Ibiza where he has performed most of the bars and clubs including Cafe Mambo’s, Savannah’s, Bar M, Amnesia, Space, Privilege and Pacha. Over the 8 summer’s living there he successfully built a great contact base performing on radio stations, Sonica and Cadena, winning DJ competitions with MTV and being apart of and performing at infamous villa and Cave Rave parties. Playing for Carl Cox’s night ‘Revolution’ in the El Salon and the Red Box for ‘We Love’. Space nightclub and the more underground DC10 became regular hot spots for clubbing and DJ’ing.
As a music producer and sound designer he has worked on movie trailers for Ridley Scott ‘Prometheus’ and Andrew Huang ‘Doll Face’ and is currently working as Chief Sound Editor for a short picture film ‘Amongst the Birds’. He has completed computer game projects and has worked with game developers in sound implementation and concepts. As a Live Sound Recordist he has completed tasks of recording the English Baroque Choir concert in St. Sepulchresand the Statue Thieves at the famous Dublin Castle pub in Camden, London. He has also successfully recorded, engineered and mixed various Indie bands, Jazz Quintet’s and solo vocalist and instrumentalist.
As a solo artist he has produced many tracks for his own personal projects. He has also won a DJ competition in the IDJ International Dj Magazine as a ‘Raw Talent’ and also had his Remake of the classic CJ Bolland - Sugar Is Sweeter (Armand van Helden Mix) featured in the ‘Big Tunes’ section of Mixmag Magazine where he found himself on the same page as Coldplay, Santogold and Metronomy.
Now Daniel see his productions and personal sound coming to bear, utilising his gained skills to achieve this through recording artists and composing various musical arrangements and mixing on industry standard equipment. He has made music production and sound design his ‘Plan A’ and is regarded as an exciting, creative and artististic individual amidst an industry where standing out is no easy feat.
