With a poignant, acoustic sound combining the ‘emotional punch of Damien Rice and the lyrical sensitivities of Dylan’, Loong’s music connects and challenges across cultures. A philosophy teacher-turned singer songwriter, Loong started his musical journey performing for audiences across Asia. With his family rooted in Singaporean and British culture, his music pieces together questions about identity, community and growing up as a product of Eastern and Western cultures.
'Powerful, touching songs, which cut to the heart in their honesty and invite reflection.'
Barry Gardner, Engineer to Ronnie Wood, Craig David
Loong has performed in venues as diverse as the Peninsula Hotel, the famous WANCH bar in Hong Kong, and a Burmese orphanage. After returning to the UK in 2011, he has swiftly become a headline act on the London scene. After launching his debut single, ‘Houses Not Homes’, to critical acclaim and radio airplay, he followed this up with an acoustic EP, ‘The Fairlop Sessions’, music from which has been featured on Chinese TV to an audience of millions. At present, he is travelling around India, sharing his songs in schools and orphanages and anywhere with a microphone and open space. Inspired by a quote by Victor Hugo, Loong believes in the power of music to connect, to challenge and to change people in positive ways.
