LOKANDES is the combination of two words: 'Crazy' and 'Andes' which represents the intention of our music - crazy music from the Andes -. This project was started in London, during December 2007, by Karlos Saldaña and Alx Alfaro. This project aims to create Alternative music with roots from traditional Andean music and then entered in his second phase completing the band line up with musicians from different parts of the world based in London, England. LOKANDES is now known to fuse Afro-Andean music with other contemporary music styles such as Funk, Latin, Reggae, Jazz, Cumbia, etc.
This fusion of music and musicians aims to bring its audiences original music with socially conscious lyrics, at the same time bringing awareness to Latin-American cultures.
The band had the opportunity to play on different venues like Notting hill arts club, Passing Clouds, Jazz Cafe, Coronet,The O2 - The British Music Experience - Millennium Dome, etc.. and festivals as Big Chill Fest, Love Box, Movimientos, Andean Connection, Shoreditch Festival, Carnaval del Pueblo(Burguess Park), Global Local, Latin Quarter, Rich Mix, The Scoop, Kendal Callling, Secret Garden Party, London Mela at Gunnersbury Park, London Green Fair, Glastonbury , Vamos Festival, London latin american film festival, BT London river of live (Olympics 2012) among others top music venues and festivals around London.
Lokandes also support Los Kjarkas & Susana Baca in their London's Concert.
