Lost Horizon (symphonic poem) by Lorenzo Miniero published on 2020-12-13T15:43:17Z An attempt to write yet another classical symphonic poem, inspired by the "Lost Horizon" novel by James Hilton, one of my favourites. This work is dedicated to Lennie Moore (lenniemoore.com), one of the greatest influences in my music life. The whole score is available on MuseScore: https://musescore.com/lminiero/lost-horizon It's musically inspired by the Outcast OST by Lennie Moore (the Ranzaar theme, in particular), the "7 years in Tibet" OST by John Williams, and late-romantic giants like Tchaikovsky (1st symphony, in this context) and Rimsky-Korsakov (Antar symphony). "Neptune" from Holst's Planets has also been hugely influential for some choices. As usual, everything was written and recorded using open source and free tools: Ardour, MuseScore, Michael Willis's VPO template for Ardour, Sfizz, DragonFly Reverb and others. Instrument sounds come from the Virtual Playing Orchestra (SFZ), using a variant of the SFZ files I edited myself. License: https://www.safecreative.org/work/2012136200283 Genre Classical
