The night has come, the angels sing, a new star brightens everything.
Each prophet’s soul, since Adam told, this sacrifice unfolds.
And they’ve had faith that He would come,
their brother, my Beloved Son.
But they don't know how hard it is to let Him go.
The time has come to say goodbye, to send Him down to live and die,
to love them all, fulfill His call, save them from Eden's fall.
And now they wait for Him to come,
their Savior, my Beloved Son.
But they can't know the tears that flow to watch Him go.
Alleluias in heav’n and earth. ‘Immanuel!’ Announce His birth!
‘Mid trumpets sound from all around, shepherds and wise men found,
and kneeling see that He has come,
their new king, my Beloved Son.
No, they can't know how hard it was to let Him go.
He will not end, glory ascend, He'll rise from death, come home again!
The earth is His, each child there is will surely know He lives!
They'll wait for Him to come again,
Beloved Son, their truest friend.
They'll grateful know, in glory's glow, I let Him go!
This is my Beloved Son, (Alleluia)
in whom I am well pleased. (Alleluia)
For unto them is born this day
the Way their sins will wash away,
and then they'll know I let him go to bring them home!
