Self-taught silversmiths learn from masters at workshop by Olivia Weitz published on 2017-08-17T17:06:35Z When a cowboy walked into the shop some silversmiths in the Old West covered up what they were working on---belt buckles, saddle gear. They worked hard to learn a specialty craft and didn’t want just anybody to take off with their designs. Times have changed. But, becoming a silversmith is still a tall order. To provide learning and networking opportunities, the Idaho Commission on the Arts organized a workshop in July for around a dozen Idaho-based silversmiths.
