Little Red Lung

Los Angeles' Little Red Lung originated as a solo project of singer/keyboardist Zoe-Ruth Erwin, whose pure, bellowing vocals have been compared to the likes of Florence Welch, Stevie Nicks and Grace Slick. She quickly brought on board three creative veterans of the local indie music scene: guitarist Ali Nikou, bassist Rob Hume, and drummer John Broeckel, whose unique influences spanning the psychedelic troughs of Hendrix, the urgency of the 80's post-punk movement, and the fierceness of the early Seattle rock scene, cultivated Little Red Lung’s distinctive voice. In 2012, they released a self-titled debut EP; a lavish, 6-song introduction to their dynamic sound; produced and recorded by the band at Nikou's recording studio, Blaster Master Productions. Through active social networking, local and international press, and several independent US tours, the EP enjoyed a successful reception, and Little Red Lung continued to gain momentum, culminating in a performance at the 2013 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. Their singles "50 Fingers" and "Fangs" have been featured on programs on Fox, The CW, and Netflix, the exposure of which has landed them in the top 25 on the iTunes download charts several times over. Additionally, the official music video for "50 Fingers," directed by artist Sarah Sitkin (also responsible for the EP's stunning cover portraits), won first prize at the 2013 Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema. Inspired by the grassroots success of their EP, Little Red Lung forged ahead, and soon found themselves with a host of ambitious new material… vivid narratives with biting lyrics and unique sonic landscapes that would come together to form their first full length album. Utilizing the same self-contained production and recording process, but with an expanded and more polished approach, the result is a dramatic, dynamic, and genre-defying collection of songs that span from heavy and heart pounding, to subtle and delicate, with vibrant choral and orchestral breaths weaving throughout. "Get on the Boat," a bombastic noir anthem with huge sinister choruses, and ominous playful verses, retains their eerie macabre sound, while "Our Ghost" is the emotional highlight of the album, lead by soaring vocals framed in twinkling pianos and weeping violins. The nautical, swerving lyrics in "Operate" are held down by deep beats and snarling bass lines, all of which explode together in the song's powerful electro-pop outro. Released on October 1, 2015, Little Red Lung's debut LP "BEWARE" is a bold and uninhibited follow up to their acclaimed EP, stretching the boundaries of their unique multi-dimensional sound.
