Nikki first discovered the piano accordion at age 11 by chance while looking under her grandmothers’ bed. The discovery has since taken her on a journey that continues to this day.
Nikki’s solo accordion act “Little Miss Squeezebox” caters for a wide demographic of audiences, atmospheres and themes. Her repertoire ranges from the Couture to the Contemporary- reminiscing vintage classics, contemporary commercial hits, dance electronica, German Polkas, Italian favoutrites and exquisite renditions of a huge French repertoire ideal for ambient background music which includes Edith Piaf’s well loved repertoire.
Just recently, Nikki was thrilled to open for Xavier Rudd, our National Australian roots surf musician, performing to 15000 people for a fabulous council event for the City of Wanneroo.
She also performed on the foreshore of south perth to warm up a huge crowd of thousands for the gorgeous Australian sweetheart Lucy Durack with WAYO.
Nikki is gearing up to head overseas this year, where her act The Sirens have been accepted to perform for a number of European Festivals, one of which includes The Glastonbury Festival- a 5 day music event, sharing the lineup with names such as Dolly Parton, Bryan Ferry, Skrillex, Rudimental, Lilly Allen and more.
The Sirens have been a huge hit in Perth Western Australia over the past year, and are set to be on the event program for the 2014 Fremantle Street Arts Festival- an International 3 day music, comedy, arts, and circus event- seeing the best of the best from around the world.
The 3 mermaid like creatures, have lured their way around WA, featuring at Joondalup Festival, WA Day The Perth Royal Show and much more.
During March (2011), Nikki had the breathtaking experience of performing at The Perth International Arts Festival- Becks Music Box, where she opened and supported America’s sweetheart- Joanna Newsom. During this time and the past 4 years, Nikki was has been heavily involved in the Perth Fringe World Festival- performing inside the De Parel Speigeltent with a variety of shows. Her solo outfit was a hit on the outdoor stage of the inaugural festival for Perth City. The Fringe World Festival has become bigger than ever- with Nikki powering her way through the 25 days of performances amongst over 180,000 people- with a highlight of meeting and conducting a photoshoot with WA premier Mr. Colin Barnett to promote the Arts festival. She was invited to the Awards Ceremony to the pleasing news that her collaboration show ’She Dances in the Dark’ with Dawn Pascoe from Natural Wings was awarded a nomination for Best Circus Theatre Show.
Nikki currently performs as an Accordionist alongside some of Perth’s most impressive and exclusive ensembles- including Music acts, Circus Acts, Theatre shows and more. She enjoys the pleasure of taking her audience on a trip around the globe by introducing them to authentic world sounds accompanying talented artists.
Nikki Dagostino is widely recognised as one of Australia’s most entertaining female Accordionists. Keeping the rare art alive and educating souls with the world sounds of the Piano Accordion.
From a young age Nikki Dagostino developed a deep passion for music with a strong love for performing and teaching music.
Born in Perth, Western Australia amongst Italian Heritage, she began studying Classical piano at age 9 and discovered the unique sound of the piano accordion at age eleven.
Graduating at Edith Cowan University, the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts!(WAAPA) and completing a Bachelor of Education; majoring in Music and Drama from (2002- 2005), she also received a scholarship for the Golden Key International Honour Society Award, in recognition of outstanding scholastic achievement and excellence in educational studies.
Nikki quickly became sort after for studio session work for original composing Artists and many various live performances in Western Australia. She has toured throughout Western Australia and the Eastern States earning high praise and phenomenal feedback for her professionalism, dedication to multicultural music and her delivery of entertainment to both young and older audiences.
She has performed as a soloist amongst countless alluring settings in WA, including major Music and Arts Festivals, food shows,
cocktail events, corporate functions, pre-dinner/dinner atmosphere, market and street festivals, support acts and much more.
She has worked, performed, supported and toured with National
and International artists including: Australian roots musician Xavier Rudd, the U.S phenomenons; Toni Childs and The Drifters, WA bands Jebediah and Gyroscope, as well as touring Nationwide with
Ireland’s Riverdance group: “Ceol Chirrai”.
Nikki has also performed with and supported Australian National icons: performing on stage with Johnny Ruffo, Graeme Lyall, Darryl Somers, James Morrison, Don Burrows, Marcia Hines, Joe Chindamo, Rove Mc Manus, Darryl Braithwaite,
Patrick McMann, and Tony Pantano.
Nikki had the honourable pleasure of serenading our past Prime Minister Mr. Kevin Rudd and his fellow politicians at a private
dinner party setting as well as performing and mentoring young high school students on their Music Tour to the Australian War
Memorial in 2009 located in Canberra, ACT.
Nikki has also experienced live television exposure appearing annually on Telethon (Channel Seven Perth), local television and monthly airtime on Radio featuring interviews and many live performances in studio for (ABC, RTR FM, 6EBA World Radio and more) as well as a variety of appearances in newspapers: The Australian, West Australian, Sunday Times, Social Pages, magazines and TV Commercials.
