Prelude (to a collision) by leith00000 published on 2011-04-09T04:27:54Z Live performance of a piece I wrote for Sax and prerecorded accompaniment. About 80% of the sounds in the prerecorded track were samples taken from the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider at Brookhaven National Labs coming up to speed prior to smashin atoms (thus Prelude), provided by my friend Pete Cameron. Using a particle collider for a sample set could possible make this the most expensive piece of music to write in the history of the world. I finished writing it about a week before this performance, then quickly contracted the flu which left me almost no time to rehearse it. It could've used more harmonic movement, or maybe just less tonality in general, but in the end I'm not totally disgusted by it as I usually am with my through composed stuff. The final F# is at least 3/4 of a semitone flat. Ugh. Genre classical/avante guarde Comment by ⓀⒼiƞk it's great to hear modern classical like this, well done 2011-05-02T02:28:29Z
