Only One by LWPhx published on 2016-10-30T23:50:37Z The tree was planted long ago He who planted it didn’t know Who it would shelter from the sun He just did what needed to be done He wasn’t seeking glory or fame Nobody even knows his name But the world is a better place Because he was here It takes only one One kind gesture, one kind word It takes only one Only one to change the world His name’s not on any building He was never honored for his deed He never expected recognition He looked around and found a need It takes only one One kind gesture, one kind word It takes only one Only one to change the world The tree was planted long ago It took many years to grow Now it’s time to plant our own Because we are here It takes only one One kind gesture, one kind word It takes only one Only one to change the world Only we can change the world. © 2016 Leisah Woldoff Photo Mike Linksvayer/flckr Genre Indie Comment by Sal Caputo :-) 2022-03-30T02:43:55Z Comment by Sal Caputo er, "his name's not on a building" (embarrassing typo) 2022-03-30T01:17:24Z Comment by Sal Caputo Lots of good in this. Tying both fandom and Talmud (Honi meets the man planting the carob tree) to Earth Day. What a web of tangents and heart, this is what an individual consciousness provides and distills into song. I think one technical thing that might improve the tune is to change "his name's not on any building" to "his not on a building" - I don't it changes the meaning of the phrase, but it will fit the melody more gracefully.
