Layla Benitez is an up and coming Deep House DJ born and bred in New York City. She grew up with music coursing through her veins. Her father is legendary Jellybean Benitez; resident DJ of renowned clubs Studio 54, The Limelight, and Palladium, defining the groovy sound of 80s New York. The soul and rhythm of her past are felt in every set. Ranging from techno, to afro house, to soul- Layla’s unique mergence of sound is a funky journey with dark undertones.
She has played in various locations including but not limited to Le Bain at the Standard Hotel, Caden, Doux Supper Club, Common Ground Bar, Public Hotel, Cielo, The Union Square Lounge, Schimanski, The Gallery at The Dream Hotel Downtown, Good Behavior at The Made Hotel, Make Believe, Chelsea Music Hall, and Atla in New York City. She has also played at SQL, The Confidante, The Penthouse Hotel, and No. 3 Social for Art Basel and Winter Music Conference in Miami. She has traveled to St. Barths to play at the two most recognized nightclubs on the island- Modjo St. Barths, and Casa Club St. Barths. She has a residency at the Hyperion and Nocturne events, both based in Manhattan. She also has DJed at many underground parties in NYC including, “Lovebreak”, “Birdcage”, “Funkbox”, “White Lodge”, “Traumland”, “Disturbed”, and “Dancedancedance”. She has played alongside distinguished artists such as Thugfucker, Lee Foss, Birds of Mind, Eli Escobar, Tony Touch, Chromeo, Guy Gerber, Sleepy & Boo, Soul Clap, Lil’ Wayne, David Bryan of Bon Jovi and also plays alongside her dad, continuing his legacy with a modern approach.
Layla is a dynamic artist, embracing her past and enthusiastically looking to the future. She is truly interested in how new sounds, music, and experience can be bridged together in reimagined ways. Constantly intrigued by experimentation and the flux of today’s musical landscape, Layla is always driven to bring fresh energy and a bit of the unknown to every set.
