In 1995, while being taken to school by his older brother, a ten year old Lawrence Wright was introduced to 'The Sound of Club Kinetic Vol.1', the definitive electronic dance compilation of the time. From this point, electronic music would always play a big part in Lawrence's life.
In 2000, Lawrence got his first pair of decks. A pair of old direct drives bought for him by his Dad from the local Cash Converters on Breck Road, Liverpool. Now influenced by the Liverpool sound pushed by prominent DJ's at the time, Lee Butler and Pez Tellet, Lawrence learned to mix with the 'Scouse House' sound blended with the commercially successful hard house tracks at the time. His first purchases included 'Zombie Nation' by Kernkraft 400, 'Operation Blade' by Public Domain and a popular bootleg of Darude's 'Sandstorm' morphed with the acapella of 'The Roof is on Fire'.
Practising and practising, Lawrence developed a style inspired by Club Kinetic's DJ Sy by mixing tracks together earlier than expected to keep the sound moving and progressing. Building in confidence, Lawrence organised college parties and took part in local DJ competitions around the North West of England, finding moderate success in reaching the finals of DMC's 'Young UK DJ Competition 2002'.
After this, Lawrence lost interest in DJ'ing for a few years up until 2009 where he found a new interest in producing. During this time away from the decks, Lawrence fell in love with trance music. In listening to tranceradio.ch, he realised that he needed a new direction and started to produce and DJ trance music.
Rediscovering his love for DJ'ing, he has invested heavily in hauling himself into the 21st century by purchasing industry standard Pioneer CDJ 900'S and a full 1000 watt sound system complete with LED automated colour wash lights. This saw the birth of his sole venture, 'IsWright Entertainment'.
Combining his experience as a DJ and fledgling skills as a producer, Lawrence took his sound global where on reputable site 'SoundCloud' he now has over 1500 followers around the world from South America, North America to Europe and the Far East.
After achieving their "track of the day" for his tracks "Heal" and "Love Will Come Again", Lawrence achieved one of his ambitions by being signed to JP ART Records in Berlin, Germany, a former sub label of B12 Records, Germany. His debut release was the first track which made their track of the day, "Heal". The release date was 28.08.2012 and is available to buy on iTunes, Amazon, Beatport and Juno.
2012 was quite an exceptional year for Lawrence as together with making his debut release, he also made his international DJ debut at the Edelfettwerk Club, Hamburg in November as part of the ‘B12 Records Goes Around The World tour’ in which he performed alongside such esteemed acts as Betty Bizarre, Mike Vath, Mike Lachmann and Enrico Bariello.
2013 saw a continuing upward path where Lawrence had three originals released “Liverpool to Hamburg”, “The Ascension” [Spreaz Records], “Latin Spirit” [Artmatic Records ] as well as remixes for Berlin group, ‘JP ART Allstars’ of their tracks “Save Our World”, “Sound of Nature”, “Time For Revenge”. Impressed by Lawrence’s productions, Artmatic Records invited Lawrence to headline the event, “Return of Trance” in Basel, Switzerland which took place in September 2013.
From 2014, Lawrence's productions had been offered as a free download to spread his sound further. Since 2016, Lawrence has been working on his debut EP - "The Oxford Street E.P.", an auto-biographical concept EP. Stay tuned!
