Laurie Lewin

Laurie wrote his first song aged 10 and has never stopped writing since. He spent a short time early on working as a professional musician. However, realising it wasn’t going to pay the rent he started working in education in order to stay afloat. Ironically, he found teaching young people how to make the most of whatever talents they possessed was something he really enjoyed! Over the years of working in education Laurie always somehow managed to keep playing and writing. In his spare time, he worked a lot as a session bass player with different folk/jazz cabaret artists including Dis Disley, Johnny Silvo, Noel Murphy, Harvey Andrews and White on Black as well as playing his own gigs and working in cover bands. After years spent working and playing in Germany, Cyprus, Africa, New York, Dubai, Bahrain and Oman Laurie has now settled in Totnes, Devon and focuses on music production and writing at his wave7music studio. He also directs The Voices Around The World charity music project. The project has gained momentum over the last 10 years and now annually involves the voices of over 8,000 young people from 65 different countries raising money to support and improve the education of HIV orphaned children in Tanzania. In recent times the project has enjoyed the support of music industry names such as Howard Jones and Steve Knightley. Currently the 2021 project is set to make two major song/video releases - a Howard Jones song 'With This Hope In My Heart' and a song by Laurie 'We Are The Change.'
