Laura Newman & Friends Laura Newman New York Laura is a singer and composer with a soulful voice and improvisational flare. She opened 6 times for Neil Young as lead soprano and co-composer for the Stop Shopping Gospel Choir. Her arrangements of the 1st Amendment and the Declaration of Occupy Wall Street have become theme songs for activists and anthems for peace. Her current band Abracadabra Field Trip plays on the roof of a blue school bus at parks around NYC, a renegade concert featuring incredible rock and jazz musicians playing classic tunes from Michael Jackson to Led Zeppelin as well as originals. Laura has written music with Zé Luis, James Iglehart, Nehemiah Luckett, Bill Mayo (Black Taxi) Jacquelene Acevedo, Chris Dubois, L*A*W, Travis Tench, Billy Talen, Savitri Durkee and has collaborated with Greg Norwood, Ethan Kogan, Liz Swados, Jeannine Otis, Baba Isreal, Morgan Greenstreet, Dylan Meek, John Guari, Matt Geraghty, Mike Tedesco, Walker Fee, John Doing, Jason Candler, Dragonfly Wilson and many more. We have performed on global stages including Conway Hall, The Greek Theater, Joe’s Pub, Le Poisson Rouge, The Highline Ballroom, Webster Hall, Burning Man, Latitude Festival, Secret Garden Party and Symbiosis.
