LATEX - Gato,
from Indonesia .
I have always been curious about electronic music, computers, technology, and science, wanted to become an technician and iT programer.
Some day I discovered Vinyl “Zoo Look” by Jean Michel Jarre, altern 8, 808 state... and I could not stop listen to it again and again and curious how it was made. I did cruise ship jobs at early 2000, travel around the world,UK,Russia,Japan,Los angeles, miami,New York,Norway and Antartica by the ship and finally had enough time to explore a Roland mc-303 groovebox, more time to listen crate of vinyl from HTFR ,and collect some hardware equipment such us KORG electribe,Roland MC 505,some sampler and analog effect rack.
What happened was that I started DJ ing and then there were more and more equipment to explore…find some rare equipment from secondhand store that would allow me to make more creative things and eventually to make my own music without actually knowing how to play a particular instrument in proper way.
With the advent of samplers and other machines at a budget that made them accessible in the early 2000, I started making my own tracks. I was also learning the process of how a track is constructed by doing live set version.
Now I was able to create my own electronic sound collages and I played Live with my collective sometimes.
In 2003 I moved to Barcelona.
it was great year for me to see sonar festival for first time at Fira Gran Via area in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Notable artists performing in this period include Squarepusher, Fennesz, Bruce Gilbert, Patrick Pulsinger, Pan Sonic, Mouse On Mars, Suicide, Aviador Dro, DJ Spooky, Pole, DJ Zero, Goldfrapp, and Merzbow, Daft Punk, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Jimi Tenor, Laurent Garnier, Marc Almond, Deep Dish, Motorbass
in 2008 we start our collective at Principle of south to Run Sound System for unauthorized underground party in Jogja.
in 2009 we start our studio at near prawirotaman Yogyakarta….
in 2010 we attend to organize ILMU FESTIVAL…is a two-day hip-hop and electronic music festival that brings together some of the best communities from Australia and Indonesia. The unique collaboration between the two neighbors invites four well-known Australian artists (Urthboy, Ozi Batla, Elgusto and Luke Dubs) from the hip hop label Elefant Traks to perform and engage in workshops with the Indonesian electronic musician collective.
in 2017 we start Our second Studio Recording in jakarta “imogen” and run our radio stream “Tranquilo” and our own IMOGEN record label with our collective Joemillion, DENA, NoFOOTURE, mono.log, LTX
I started making electronic music with Maiky Monolog, Theoo Radenata and began to study analog sound engineering at our home studio in Yogya - java Indonesia.
Later i start my the software project Latex Synth to create music software VSTi synthesizer and distribute it as freeware.
My music is about the exploration of analog 90’s synth, Groovebox RAW sound, heavy bass, repetitive rhythm and eclectic structure, about the interaction between a analog hardware, drum machine and the sample chop in which it happens.
During the years me as LATEX got more focused on live analog set and 8 hour vinyl session for the dancefloor, from small club, rave, block party and art event.
