LaSoul has been singing since grade school. He started out singing in school choirs and a cappella groups that harmonized under the influence of Take 6, Az Yet, Boys2Men and Acappella. One of the more successful a cappella incarnations was the group, Blaze. They composed new songs or remixed songs into their style and developed a following that supported their musical growth and attended shows at every venue. Blaze went on to win prestigious singing competitions, and of course, the love of the ladies.
Always wanting to promote educating oneself to a higher level, LaSoul obtained a BSc Degree in Construction Studies from the University Of Cape Town. While at UCT, LaSoul enjoyed performing at dinners and residence banquets, weddings and also entertained at many Live shows. While studying in 2004, he became involved in music production. Initially, the production focus was mainly on LaSoul’s original material, but as word spread about his growing skills, people eventually started flocking to him for production assistance.
Upon his graduation from College, the list of artists and Management agencies requesting LaSoul’s attention had grown exponentially and he found himself buried in musical projects ranging from artist demo’s to Independent Artists album projects. One of the biggest projects completed to date through LaSoul’s production company The Soul Factory Productions is the soundtrack for the movie, “Don’t Touch”, which was shown at the Apollo festival in Durban.
