Lady Aphasia Kayla Bickerton Cleveland Lady Aphasia is a pop oriented indie singer-songwriter based out of Cleveland Ohio. Born Kayla Bickerton, she grew up in rural Pennsylvania, a typical small town girl with big city dreams. In 2014,Bickerton met Cleveland based soul singer Esther Fitz while auditioning for The Voice. The two began collaborating and she was introduced to Cleveland's vibrant underground music scene. In November of 2014, Bickerton began a series of live performances in the Northeast Ohio area, her first under the moniker Lady Aphasia. Her passionate and spirited vocal performances caught the eye and ear of Heart Riot Records CEO Lance Waste, who approached Aphasia about recording together. In early 2015, the two entered Heart Riot Studios, working on five songs that would become Lady Aphasia's debut ep, The Age of Transience. The album's themes of growth, maturation and metamorphosis are displayed with soaring, aching vocals over dense instrumental beds, represented to perfection on the singles “Something Needs To Change” and “Guilt”. Although she has only been performing as Lady Aphasia for a short time, the music industry is already taking note. Her single “Something Needs to Change” was debuted on Lake Effect Radio. Her song, “Eye of the Hurricane” is also in rotation at the station. The Age of Transience will be released by Heart Riot Records in July 2015, beginning with E.P. Release parties at The Symposium Concert Club in Lakewood, OH on July 11th (as the headliner of the Ladies First Festival) and a headline set at Club T in Jamestown, PA on July 24th. Lady Aphasia will be following up her EP release parties with limited live performances, including a set at the second annual Heart Riot Fest in Cleveland, Ohio on August 15th 2015. Fans of Lorde, Pink and Skylar Grey will love Lady Aphasia. Lady Aphasia’s tracks Something Needs To Change by Lady Aphasia published on 2015-07-01T18:18:52Z
