Harmonic Chance [disquiet0323] by Kyle TM published on 2018-03-13T00:39:17Z When I think of meditation I think of the sounds of my house as that is where I do nearly all of my meditating, the sounds of bells from various apps, and John Cage. I recorded this track in my house with no attempt to hide room tone, sounds, or cats since I don't block them out while meditating. I used harmonics as I recently started playing guitar again and they remind me of the various meditation bell tones. I got into zen and John Cage at the same time, I do not remember which came first or if it was a mutual discovery. In honor of this the entire piece is based on chance methods using Random.org to determine when to play which harmonics on which string. (I also aimed for it to be 4:33 in length but I missed that by a couple seconds.) No real editing besides minor EQ and compressing was done to this track since meditation is the practice of embracing imperfection. _____ More on this 323rd weekly Disquiet Junto project (Music for Meditation: Record a piece of music suited to meditation) at: https://disquiet.com/0323/ More on the Disquiet Junto at: https://disquiet.com/junto/ Subscribe to project announcements here: http://tinyletter.com/disquiet-junto/ Project discussion takes place on llllllll.co: https://llllllll.co/t/disquiet-junto-project-0323-music-for-meditation/ There’s also on a Junto Slack.
