Kultur Shock Kultur Shock Seattle/New York City Kultur Shock members joke that their new record "IX" symbolizes the nine lives that the band has had over its 18 years of existence. Or may be the nine circles of hell... Every record for them is a musical representation of their personal experiences, their life on the road (the band has performed over 800 shows by now), and their views about the world through the lyrics of singer Gino Yevdjevich. The band has chosen a purist approach- every note on the record is played by a human being, no programming has been used at all, with the intent to bring their sound on this release as close to the live sound of the band as possible. In addition, they have decided to declare a war on the "loudness war"- the tendency of contemporary artists and engineers to amplify recorded material to a point of self- purpose, to the detriment of the musical quality and the listening experience of their audience. Recorded by Jack Endino in Seattle in the summer of 2014, the record is scheduled for digital release on November 11, 2014 to be followed by CD and vinyl releases. The band will be on the road with the songs from "IX" and best of their earlier records in February and March 2015.
