South-western France in the nineties. Workmen are banging in the road, there's banging in our heads and there's banging in the garage. Like an over-excited teenager with wildman hair, Kranc has been thrashing on his drums since the age of 15.
He's got rhythm in his blood, as well as the scientific accuracy of the metronome permanently branded in his brain.
Real rocker, he likes the streets in hot weather, listening to Black Flag, Violent Femmes, Grateful Dead. Taking it up a notch to NIN, Helmet, Down and the gang of metallers who are burning up what's left of the century, he started blasting ears up with Fear Of The Black planet and french rap artists IAM & NTM ; KRiLLA slowly moved into something new and so heavy.
Kranc switches to hip hop, then rap music ; the Wu-Tang, Onyx and Gangstarr are playing the riffs that rock the sneakers of the era. Syncretic and complex, like the "Green Goddess"/Jane Fonda, Kranc finds himself in the wave of the abstract HH that's unfurling at the beginning of the Nineties and it's without a second thought that he plugs his first jacks into an MPC 2K sampler in 2001.
Not only a musician and beatmaker, and by his crew's side More Underground Than Hell and some others, KRiLLA also expressed himself through graffitis and many video experiences.
Soaked in sound and wiser for the experience of a few aborted attempts in the provinces, the man obsessed with sampling becomes a sound engineer so he can stay on it. He's tactical, good on the technical, jack of all trades but master of none.
He finishes up his menial jobs and starts out on a musical adventure. "More Underground Than Hell" - MUTH. He hooks up with four wild and abstract-thinking MCs, he releases an LP in 2004 and has a couple of forays into the solo world with Diskord. Involved with indies prolific and non-stop movie-makers, he releases a few soundtracks and (worked on sound and visual intallations OR musical dubbing) ("ill figure" and "Kid Apocalypse"). All the while looking for more fertile musical pastures. With rock in his soul he continues to hammer on the drumskins with the "Yeah Right!!!" project with whom he's played every venue in Paris (2008 - 2010).
Looking for richest collaborations (Guilty Simpson, Franck 'n Dank...), Krilla grows projects.
Kranc Ill aka KRiLLA produced a remixes volume called "Rough Materials vol.1" and a extended instrumental version "Rough Instrumentals" ; he's now taking part of some dj sets (Cannibale Café) and connect with FreeWorker and Soulist (french dj/producers and live bookers -"WhatTheFunk"- Paris.)
2012 : First Maxi single releases "Upward" is out, then forwarded on net medias and indies radio show ( Future Basics -Radio campus / Paris)
This second release that features Simpson, Franck Nitt, Yungun aka Essa, Soulstice, Dynamic Duo and David Sha is an introduction of an Ep to come late 2012. This one is planned to be a meeting of many great hip hop and rock artists.
Through this KRiLLA, remixed The Herbaliser 's"March Of the Dead Things", More Or Les "Filet Mignon" & "Fast Food", Pigeon John "Boomerang"..
…More to come.
