Community College Enrollment by KPFA 94.1-FM Berkeley published on 2012/07/10 01:53:44 +0000 California’s Community College system is moving forward with a plan to ration education in the nation’s largest higher education system. The Community College Board of Governors heard a proposal Monday morning that would decide who gets priority enrollment in the state’s 112 community colleges. The head of the community college system says it’s a necessary response to state budget cuts that have slashed classes and led to dramatic enrollment cuts. Some opponents say the move will hurt low-income and disabled students by giving them a lower priority when it’s time to register for classes. Christopher Martinez reports from Sacramento.
