Talking Kirkby by Knowsley Archives published on 2016-02-03T09:29:43Z These recordings were made in 2015 as part of Knowsley Archive's Heritage Lottery funded project to capture the voices of people who lived or worked in Kirkby (just outside Liverpool) in the 1940s, 50s, or 60s. The interviews were conducted and recorded by members of the Kirkby U3A (University of the Third Age) who wanted to preserve people's memories of a time when Kirkby was being transformed from a mainly rural community to an urban one. These extracts are taken from a professionally produced compilation CD that was given to participants and volunteers. Interviews were conducted and recorded by the following U3A members: Ann Murphy, Anne Hankin, Anne Levey, Barbara McCormack, Doreen Ely, and Linda Brown. The CD was produced by Mark Rice (https://soundcloud.com/markriceaudioengineer) on behalf of Knowsley Archives. The full recordings are part of Knowsley Archive's collections.
