APOB - Apple Of Pain [disquiet0228] by APOB published on 2016-05-13T08:15:37Z Disquiet Junto Project 0228: Three Mics OK, Im not sure what came over me this morning, maybe some LSD slipped into my coffee, but here it is. I was jamming around not really thinking about this project and I stumbled on to a slightly oddly timed riff. I decided to add some bits to it, bass, drums, craziness and then re-record the result using different microphones or similar. The first part of the final track was recorded using an old pair of Sennheiser HD265 headphones plugged in to a TC Helicon VoiceWorks Pro, the headphones were placed on a chair, cups directed toward my monitors. Next I used two old microphones, originally from a Philips reel to reel from the 60's. I placed these on stands a few feet from the monitors. Lastly I used two Rode NT2's, on stands, close to the monitors. I faded in between the three recordings in turn, moving from a distant sound to right up close. Thanks to my friend Nina for the odd conversation and inspiration for the title. Bon appétit. Disquiet Junto Project 0228: Three Mics Make a piece of music with one sound source recorded three different ways. This week we’re going to explore how different microphones can alter the perception of a given instrument or other sound source. Step 1: Find three microphones. (Music mic, laptop, cellphone, tablet, landline answering machine, etc.) Step 2: Make three recordings, each of the same single sound source through a different one of the microphones from Step 1. Step 3: Make a piece of music exploring the differences — some will be stark, others more nuanced — between those three recordings. Genre Fruitadelic Comment by APOB @sevenism: The "lead" sound is Logics ES2 synth, delay, then distortion.... And some subtle pitch bending. 2016-05-16T12:31:05Z Comment by 337is (three three seven is) Beautiful effects.
