Kj Dubs started producing his own style of sample based musical mayhem back in 1994, after acquiring an S2000 sampler & Cubase. From producing numerous tracks for fun, it all started to snowball, and before long ‘The Confrontation Camp’ was assembled featuring ‘Backbone’ (Darren Johns) on drums, MC Milestone (Paul Tuffin) rappin’ & vocals, DJ Bloodshot (Pete King) on vinyl scratch duties, KJ Dubs himself on guitar and anyone one of a number of friends who just liked to get on stage & mess around! Always up for it , ‘The Camp’ played endless benefit gigs for various good, bad & downright ugly causes, supported the likes of Freestylers, Bentley Rhthym Ace & Hardknox, and played at the 1999 Megadog Eclipse Festival in Plymouth, which culminated in them appearing on a compilation cd showcasing the acts at the festival. Somehow the great, late John Peel got hold of a copy and played KJ Dubs’ track ‘Kingrock’, over the national airwaves. His mission accomplished KJ Dubs went into self destruct mode and the dream ended in 2001 with an embarrassing yet sublimely unforgettable show at Plymouth University Students Union, where a heavily intoxicated KJ Dubs’ on stage antics single handedly disrupted the whole show to the point where ‘The Camp’ all walked off stage, one by one in utter disgust & amazement !
KJ consequently gave away all his studio gear to travel around South East Asia and now resides in Bangkok, Thailand. After rescuing his trusty old Roland VS880 EX, S2000 & vintage 70s JHS synth drum, he added a Boss drum & bass machine, an Epiphone strat and acquired an old Macbook G3 to put in his spare room to try and bring back the old magic!......as you see he's still trying!!!
KJ has another alias, CT Strokers (long story, don't ask!), who can be found at http://www.last.fm/music/CT+Strokers
