Three emerging Australian composers were selected and instructed to compose a symphonic movement inspired by the sound of Preston at different times of the day, trying to relfect the multi-cultural, suburban and night-life activity : Luke Speedy-Hutton's morning bustle becomes the daydreaming of William Schmidt’s afternoon, before Keyna Wilkins captures the mystery of a suburban night as trams rattle in the distance. The orchestra wanted to create a work that was original and unique for the performers, who are mostly high level professional players and to shine light on emerging Australian composers and share Australian music with mainstream audiences.
