DJ & Vocalist - Open format House, Trap, Hip Hop, Bass, Booty Bass - any song that is GOOD deserves a SPIN. Wrote & sang "Invincible," which peaked at #28 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs Chart.
She has performed on the 49th Annual Grammy Awards with Gnarls Barkley. She recently had a song reach number 28 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs Chart, which she wrote and sang. Her first live band stage performance just happened to be where The Dixie Chicks got their start - Poor David's Pub in Dallas, Texas. She has even played violin on The Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center's stage with an orchestra as a child. Needless to say, the stage beckoned.
With deep roots in R&B and jazz and inspiration from growing up when hip hop was at it's peak, Kelly Divan was musically gifted whether it be piano, violin, or voice. Divan's first piano instructor called her a "prodigy." Divan was adept at learning music quickly and remembering every nuance of the vocalist's melody.
Divan moved to Los Angeles when she was 18 for college but discovered her passion in music, so she pursued a career as a singer. Divan sang R&B and wrote neosoul tracks originally.
After Divan graduated from college, she discovered intrigue with the technical side of making music thus went to UCLA Extension for recording engineering. Divan has worked in several major studios in LA alongside multi-platinum producers such as Jeffrey Weber (Nancy Wilson, Chick Corea), David 'Rainman' Banta (Tupac, Bone Thugs), Barry Goldberg (Fleetwood Mac, Seal), and Michael Lloyd (Barry Manilow, Dirty Dancing).
Divan discovered a love for House music after being urged by friends to check out Spundae, a Trance event on Saturdays at Circus Disco in Los Angeles. Divan noticed how different the scene was and appreciated a camaraderie amongst people that did not exist in the hip hop scene. That friendliness drew her in, but the music kept her there.
That stage once again beckoned, and Divan decided to buy the equipment necessary to learn how to DJ. She started DJing in March of 2010 and began working on production shortly thereafter.
Kelly Divan's first House/Dance release titled "Invincible" peaked at #28 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs Chart. As a DJ, Divan is described as the type of DJ that takes you on a journey and gives the crowd just what they want - familiarity with enough surprise and delight. She knows how to get you moving and does it while adding an often ad-libbed live vocal component. Kelly continues to write and perform in clubs all over Los Angeles and beyond and hopes to continue to contribute to the Electronic Dance Music genre as a DJ, a songwriter, and a singer.
