KEITH'THE CAPTAIN'GAMBLE Keith Gamble New York City Vocalist, guitarist, and harmonica player, Keith THE CAPTAIN Gamble’s heart and soul are rooted in the BLUES. THE CAPTAIN is a consummate performer whose talents are both exceptional and diverse! THE CAPTAIN applies his many talents to film and theater, also as a guest artist for the LaGuardia Community College lecture series on the Blues and as a guest instructor with the Jazzmobile in Harlem. THE CAPTAIN holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the City College of NY. During the public schools’ Black History Month programs, THE CAPTAIN will provide children with an enlightening history of the Blues. To this end he is featured in the documentary “From the Root to the Fruit – A Chronicle of the Blues”. Later in June of 2002, THE CAPTAIN adapted this documentary as a musical production for the Flushing Town Hall in NYC, which was received with enthusiastic praise. In 2002, THE CAPTAIN completed a three-nation European tour. In 2003 we find THE CAPTAIN performing at the Debrecen Jazz Festival outside of Budapest, Hungary. In 2004, from Paris he participated in a US Embassy tour in Lusaka, Zambia. THE CAPTAIN was again commissioned by the US State Department this time to perform at the W.E.B. Dubois Center in Ghana, in honor of the Inauguration of President Barack Obama. THE CAPTAIN brought in the 2007 New Year with a 4-day celebration, performance in Dubai at the Al Qasr Hotel. For the past several years THE CAPTAIN has been retained by City and State agencies e.g. Riverbank State Park and the Central Park Conservancy to perform for their public programs. On behalf of the Conservancy, his band The NU Gypsies will be performing at the Duke Ellington Circle for Marathon Sunday, November 2nd, 2014 for the 44th running of the New York City Marathon. This is very fitting for him to perform since THE CAPTAIN ran the course himself in 1984 and 1985.
