Motion:Theory:Music are parties.
It's Ben Abrahams and myself.
Follow him if you choose to follow me :)
Sublime sounds and hypnotic funk stimulate my being, compelling me to source, mix and access dimensions too many to mention. I call it Astral House, and it's perfect for vibration appreciation in the dance floor sweet spot.
My maestro husband Ben Abrahams has been blowing minds on dance floors with his unique take on house for over 20 years. Flipping records side by side, sharing our discerning taste for the side ways of house and techno for 17 years, our marriage is firmly rooted between decks and dance floor.
Ben rocked forests and the infamous Melbourne nightclub 161 as the Earthcore resident dj in the Millenium, then we took our Motion:Theory:music parties north. A series of adventures left us inhabiting a church In the Byron Bay hills, so we had to put on a party. Children, animals and wild folk were drawn to Strange Brew, our all ages acid-house parties at the local Billinudgel Barn, an ecstatic hoe-down to the freshest house amidst the surreal Australian bush. We played records at the first Splendour in The Grass festivals in the Teepee Circle, to a dance floor frenzy of grins under a ridiculously fluorescent pink sky, then hauled our vinyl to Rainbow Bay to create a Saturday night experience at Elsewhere Bar, the Gold Coast.
At Elsewhere Bar we were known for having the freshest underground house music night in Queensland: Motion:Theory:Music. I danced to Ben's legendary sets which consistently went OFF, every Saturday from the venue's conception for SEVEN years. For the last four I played an early set of warm psychedelic house before Ben, and then moved between heaving dance floor and turntables for the spectacularly crazy early morning hours. No words can describe that scene either, but I know it's imprinted in many memories. Elsewhere Bar won the Sydney Bar Music Award for Best Music for a Club in Australia with Ben as Musical Director.
Closing the sunset stage for A Collective Future in the Melbourne bush mid-2014 was an experience. Our Motion:Theory sound had everyone vibrating, elevating and connecting. That kind of fun you crave.
Now we are in Melbourne and djing for the Killing Time bar and at parties like Muerto:Electronica, Black Market, A Collective Future, Smash Bang, Doesn'T Matter and for Deep House Australia. Our next Motion:Theory:Music party will again touch crowds, so happy to be mesmerised by 'that sound', with nights already at Killing Time Bar and My Aeon. I love to play twisted, funky techno, astral house and the so called minimal. Ben has a dynamic way that few can match. Our intent is to move the energy in a life enhancing way... and that is something you can't really label.
Ben Abrahams and I love to dj in succession, or together. We will spark your dancefloor :)
*Moments on my mixes tell the story of my return to djing whilst breast-feeding and playing Transformers, raising our boy Elijah, who now has superb taste at 4. Taking multi-tasking to a whole new level.
We have honed our sound to enhance the party vibration, ideally with my set leading into Ben's.
