“An amazing singer songwriter” - Jeremy Marou (Busby Marou)
‘Stone to the Ground’ will be the first release under the name of LITTLE MOUNTAIN, produced in November 2015 by Byron Bay Producer, Anthony Lycenko. The unique recording project takes place on opposite sides of the world, with the LITTLE MOUNTAIN band recording in Yeppoon, QLD, and Kate Leahy recording in Germany.
‘Stone to the Ground’ will be released in early 2016, and is a story about the love that a parent has for their baby. ‘It’s simple, and surprising, and all consuming… as a line in the song says “I’m a stone to the ground, fallen for you”’ (Kate Leahy).
Kate has made a name for herself in the original music scene, touring both Europe and Australia several times. Kate’s music has also been used on well-known TV series, including ‘Winners & Losers’ (AUS) and ‘The Listener’ (CAN) that have been broadcast nationally across both Australia and the USA.
Kate’s most recent tour saw her supporting Wendy Matthews on a regional tour of QLD. The tour was created and produced by Kate and funded by Arts QLD, The Australia Council & RADF.
Kate’s first tour of Europe saw her performing in countries including Germany where she performed alongside artists including Katie Melua & Sarah Blasko at the Jazz Open in Stuttgart 2010, as well as headlining at the festival Villa Nachttanz in Heidelberg. The tour also took her to Switzerland, France & the UK.
Kate first received notoriety in 2009, with her debut EP ‘The Life Raft’ getting to #1 on the Triple J unearthed chart. The song ‘The Life Raft’ was chosen to be part of a compilation CD in America raising money for cancer research (Tunes to target Cancer). And the film clip to the song (a unique stop motion video) got to #9 on Youtube’s ‘most discussed music video’ chart.
Highlights of her career include being the support act for Matt Corby, Bill Chambers, Lanie Lane, Mia Dyson, Bobby Alu, Diana Anaid, and The Wolfe Brothers as well as teaming up with Jeremy Marou (Busby Marou) for a couple of shows . She has played at festivals including the Jazz Open in Stuttgart, Cairns Festival, Agnes Blues & Roots, Bondi Music Festival, and The Village Festival.
