"Music isn’t taught, it is in the blood" for these young NZ musicians - descendants of Ngati Kahungunu - Aotearoa.
Originating from Wairoa, Hawkes Bay – K/LINE has hit the NZ music scene with a bang, showcasing its refreshing, unique,
Reggae flavour that excites the ears, energizes the soul and revives that home-grown party sound we love to hear.
Formed by cousins Kiri Gilbert, Winiata Puanaki and Ethan Browne - K/Line was a natural step for these 3 young, talented musicians.
Brought up in a musical family, learning multiple instruments, writing, composing and performing from a very young age,
has provided a steady music foundation for this trio to create their own music.
Kiri aka KG, created a diverse sound of Reggae music - combining all flavours and styles for an ultimate mixed
sound that also includes RnB, a lil Pop, Jazz, Rock etc with a true base of fresh Reggae beats - an original sound that highlights
his music ability and a sound limitless in possibilities.
Expanding the band in late 2010 with Francis Ormond and Charlie Te Kahu, a vision was sought after - to create a fuller sound which was achieved with the
arrival of Keyboardists Jayme Pomare and Katene Te Maipi, completing the sound of K/Line Music.
In July 2011, the band was approached by Music Manager - Monica Puanaki. She believed in K/Line's potential and provided
them with an opportunity to embark on an amazing journey into the NZ Music Industry.
Since that time, K/Line have seen the completion and release of their debut album K2TS (nominated for the 2013 Waiata Maori Music Awards for Best Urban Roots Album of the Year), have performed at creme events such as RnV, Baywatch, and alongside Reggae heavyweights such as 1814, Three Houses Down, Tomorrow People to name a few.
They have gained Nationwide airplay of their original music, completed their debut video 'Taken by Another' and ultimately gained an opportunity to showcase their music to the world - selling their music worldwide.
Influenced by artists such as Joe Satriani and Michael Jackson to Pantera and Bone Thugs, this group has a wide variety in their taste of music and a wide variety of personality to follow, which is sure to get attention – cheeky, fun-loving, energetic, charismatic whilst laid-back and down to earth, all have strong family values and hearts of gold.
Currently working on their second album, K/Line continue to create their own style of music that is dynamic and ever changing - keeping fans on their toes and waiting in anticipation for the next release. K/line continues to grow creatively as a band, and as the boys have just started out in the industry, they are sure to be here for some time to come - making great music the people will love and remember!
The K/LINE boys draw in crowds with their exciting, pulse generating and lively-fun vibe that leaves fans wanting more everywhere they venture.
Be sure to keep an eye on these up 'n' coming artists and keep on supporting NZ music. K/LINE “LiNe Em Up!”
