The EDGE Project - a mini-documentary by Jules Powis by Jules Powis published on 2015-07-21T14:08:36Z The EDGE of Existence programme highlights and conserves one-of–a-kind species that are on the verge of extinction. The Zoological Society of London launched a programme to protect some of the worlds most bizarre and unusual animals. The programme focuses on the worlds most unusual and threatened and is called EDGE, for Evolutionarily Distinct and Globally Endangered. Dr Jonathan Baillie, the ZSL scientist leading the project, commented, "This is the first global-scale programme specifically developed to focus on these one-of-a-kind and highly threatened animals." "We will be working to protect some of the worlds most extraordinary species, including giant venomous shrew-like creatures, matchbox sized bats and egg-laying mammals, all of which are teetering on the edge of extinction." I went to the zoo and talked to some of the scientists working on the project. Genre Learning
