In Latin America, we call Selva the immense virgin forest that is shared by Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, France (via the department of Guiana), Suriname, Guyana and Bolivia. In this territory, the most varied species on the planet coexist with humans. His best-known name, the Amazon rainforest it owes to the river that runs through the Amazonas River. It is in this vast maritime corridor, snake-shaped, the tribes move by canoe or boat to trade their goods with the "civilized" world.
It was at the age of five years old my first encounter with the jungle and its inhabitants took place. Thus I discovered a different way of life and that I was faced with the difference without worrying about the judgement. Since then, I returned several times and always her beauty amazed me.
In 2010, learning the carnage that Amazonian tribes suffered because of the exploitation of raw materials, a deep feeling of indignation came over me. These operations are conducted legally by land sales by states. The abuse suffered by Amazonian communities are still amplified by the fact that some governments prefer to deny their existence to the point that we find groups of nomads who have no idea that the land on which they move "belong" in any country.
I wanted to pay tribute to these tribes of the Amazon and their traditional practices that may disappear at any time. So I decided to write a piece about the ritual of Ayahuasca known for its healing power of the soul. By educating me about the ritual and the role of the Shaman I've realized the importance of the breath and its healing properties of the soul. This sound blown, etched in my memory since childhood, now guide some of my aesthetic concerns.
Selva, is a voyage within an individual in quest cure resort to this remedy. It goes through different moods, come face to himself, facing his fears, he will always have the feeling of merging with nature wild. Throughout his initiation, he will be guided by the voice of the Shaman.
