26-year old prodigy and former pianist James Spiteri has been composing his own music for the last half-decade and still hoping for it to be revealed to a worldwide audience. One can only encourage him to go this way, so much his melodies and tracks are as fascinating as truly beautiful, perfectly mastered and full of mental images. Far from only being a simple performer, he is giving respectability to his instrument thanks to clever and emotional tunes about to move each one of us to tears.
His art can be considered as a motion picture soundtrack, a collection of subtle paintings leading each listener/ member of the audience to the deepest contemplation ever. Sometimes reminding us of Michael Nyman or Thee Silver Mt. Zion. James also takes detours to more personal genres.
He decorates his piano tones with simple and quality-valuing strings arrangements thus revealing his rare gift for drawing melodies that every filmmaker would need as a recording surrounding pictures. His work on delicate and sensitive arpeggio is an invitation to dance as well as a comfortable place to hide, where walls are covered with sweet musical curtains.
Moreover, not only composing to support already existing movies, the artist aims to inspire psychic drawings in our own minds. Remembrances, landscapes, moments of life are created to reassure and slowly look back, in order to consider all the way everyone has covered through the years, until now. Not only paying tribute to his own existence, James Spiteri plays with people’s difficulties and instants, but also with himself, his dreams and desires, and learns more and more while performing piano in a sober and right way.
His never-excessive art goes straight to the heart and is magnificently emphasized by his ability to decorate music with admirable splendors, finally allowing each one of us to go deeper into an intimate and classical harmony that many still refuse to understand or enjoy.
Now, this is the right time for the performer to replace the composer; most of all, he needs to give his creations to the world, make them live through it, and arouse emotions and tears.
All tracks slowly flow, caress and bring a brand new warmth to our bodies, souls and senses. In front of such a perfect exhibition of feelings everybody will recognize as his/her own, a smile then will shine on people’s faces while listening to these absolutely fascinating sounds.
As movie music sounds quite off-putting and wanting to get too much for nothing, the solitude James Spiteri is inviting us to is a blessing and an example to be followed. And, of course, share to value his music all around the world."
