The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening - Boss Battle (Sneak Peek) by jscottrakozy published on 2013/11/19 01:23:01 +0000 So I decided to start a personal project of re-orchestrating the 8-bit tunes from one of my all-time favorite Zelda games: Link's Awakening. I had finished up Mabe Village and I had been wanting to write the Boss Battle theme...so I started this yesterday and hope to have it done by next Sunday. I only really need to write about a minute and a half to 2 minutes of music before I can loop it. So with this piece the original has a pretty repetitive score for the Boss theme...so I decided to give it a modern update with an orchestral introduction and a build-up and I plan to make hints of some triumphant zelda-esque motifs here and there (Overworld theme from A Link to the Past, the main Zelda theme, etc.) along with other variations to the theme. In addition to that, this is also the first score that I'm using my new program "Hollywoodwinds" for the octatonic scales, harmonic minor scales, and staccatos. It's an incredibly fun program and it just adds so much to the score giving you those scales and rips and everything in between. Seriously, definitely worth the money. Here's the link to the Hollywoodwinds: http://cinesamples.com/products/hollywoodwinds/ Here's the original score from the game (all 10 hours worth haha!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D74v8tDOh3w Anyway, I'm really eager to get this score done and work on the next big piece for this personal project. I haven't written music like this in a while so it's fun to be back in the orchestral realm. Anyway, enjoy, share and comment! Thanks!
