Norwich University Writers Series presents poet Major Jackson: Wed., April 17 by jrevolver published on 2013-04-09T22:36:48Z WNUB radio caps off its spring Norwich University Writers Series previews with this half-hour special featuring nationally known poet Major Jackson. Major Jackson is a force today among American poets. Dorianne Laux said he “makes poems that rumble and rock." And he lives and works right here in Vermont. Jackson is the author of three poetry collections. The two most recent—HOLDING COMPANY and HOOPS—were finalists for the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literature-Poetry. His first book, LEAVING SATURN, won the Cave Canem Poetry Prize and was a finalist for a National Book Critics Award Circle. He is the Richard Dennis Green and Gold Professor at the University of Vermont and a core faculty member of the Bennington Writing Seminars. He is also the poetry editor for the HARVARD REVIEW. This special, hosted by Jacque Day, leads with reflections on Major Jackson from a Norwich University professor who knows the poet personally: Dr. Patricia Ferreira, an associate professor of English. Major Jackson reads at Norwich University at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 17 in the Kreitzberg Library multipurpose room. Genre Interviews and Radio
