Harmonias e Ressonancias by jppo published on 2018-09-04T15:26:12Z Two musical aspects were considered important in the composition of this work. First, the fact that it is played in a church with a specific sound ambience where reverberation plays a fundamental role. Consequently, it was important to explore the idea of "colored silences" through an artificial expansion of what might be considered the natural resonance of the space. The coloring of these "silences with reverberation" is done through musical gestures and specific registration techniques, provided by the richness and diversity of timbral characteristics of the instrument. The second musical aspect considered is, somehow, the opposite of the first: the organ can sustain harmonies without any time limit. Consequently the piece covers the space between two extremes: the maximum possible duration of a particular sound, and the silence. Genre Classical
