Since launching his international career with his debut recital at London's Wigmore Hall in 2013, Joseph-Maurice Weder has continued to capture the attention of critics and audiences.
2014 – 2015 saw him on tour with Berliner Camerata in South America (Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Peru, Ecuador) and in Norway. Other important concerts took place in Hamburg at Laeiszhalle, in Berlin, as soloist of the Sinfonieorchester Basel and at Zurich Tonhalle. During the season 2015-2016, Joseph-Maurice Weder made his début at the Berlin Philharmonie and at the Musikverein in Vienna. Next performances are already scheduled in Switzerland, France and South America.
Joseph-Maurice Weder performs regularly in prestigious concert halls such as Wigmore Hall London, Vienna Konzerthaus and Musikverein, Berliner Philharmonie, Tonhalle Zurich, the Residenz Theater in Munich, Stadt-Casino Basel as well as in Venice, Belfast, Edinburgh and Cardiff. A sought for soloist, he performed with Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie, Sinfonieorchester Basel, Bratislava Chamber Orchestra and Munich Youth Philharmonic Orchestra.
Fond of chamber music, Joseph-Maurice Weder performed with Gautier Capuçon, Nelson Goerner, Kian Soltani, Marc Bouchkov and Pedro Franco-Lopez. In 2016, he will perform with flutist Raquele Magalhães as well as with soprano Petra Froese.
His discography includes a successful recording of Chopin Concerti in chamber version for German label Oehms. In 2007, he released a live recording of Beethoven’s 3rd piano concerto with The Chamber Orchestra of City Bratislava/ Slovakia. Next projects are “The London Recital”, recorded live at Wigmore Hall and an all new studio session around major works of Schumann and Liszt.
Joseph-Maurice Weder is the winner of the main Swiss awards and scholarships. In 2013, he received the „Swiss Ambassador's Award“ by the Swiss Embassy in London. This included performances in Edinburgh, London (Wigmore Hall), Belfast and Cardiff as well as giving master classes at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff.
Joseph-Maurice entered the Musikhochschule Basel at the age of 12, under the guidance of Prof. Adrian Oetiker. Actually, he studies with Filippo Gamba. He attended master classes with Piotr Anderszewski, Dmitri Alexeev, Homero Francesch and Louis Lortie.
